About Larkspur

"A haven of rest, a breathing place on the wayside of life, that we need in the hurry and rush of this nineteenth century" is a quotation from a publication promoting the Larkspur area for property purchases in 1890. The description of the area is as fitting today as it was over 100 years ago. In the early 1900's, the town of Larkspur served as a railroad stop for the summer vacationers that arrived to enjoy the cool summers and beautiful terrain of the area. In more recent times the city was the home of Frink Creameries, a large creamery that was destroyed in a flood in 1965. Today, Larkspur is famous for the summer Renaissance Festival that is produced for six weeks each summer.
